Our Strengths
EPIC (Embedding Positive Interaction and Communication) is a unique and exciting subject taught to all pupils at Dove House Academy. The EPIC curriculum is taught in mixed ability groups and skills are taught at a pace that is appropriate to the needs of the group.
EPIC supports pupils to develop a greater sense of self-awareness and an awareness of others, which enables pupils to communicate more effectively. EPIC teaches pupils how to interact and communicate in social situations, in school, and in the wider community. Lessons are differentiated with a wide variety of practical and creative tasks. The curriculum is responsive to the wider influences young people face, for example, social media, changes to family circumstances, global events, becoming a teenager and adulthood. EPIC aims to ensure all pupils at Dove House Academy develop self-esteem, confidence and the ability to communicate confidently and more effectively.
Collaborative learning tasks help to form positive learning relationships.
Creative tasks encourage students to express and communicate their likes, interest and hobbies.
